The NEM Data Challenge is now officially over. This adventure that started 5 months ago has finished with the most-valuable participants internship in our headquarters.
Sergio (Spain) and Polina (Rusia) have joined our team for two weeks, with the aim of getting to know how we work in NEM Solutions regarding Data Analysis. After succeeding in the first two stages of the challenge, they were selected amongst the best participants. The result has been very rewarding, due to knowledge exchange coming from both parts. Polina has a mathematics background, while Sergio has been working in the wind energy sector. We are so glad to see that the challenge has reached different countries and scopes.
In conclusion, the challenge has resulted in a very satisfying project. After more than 100 participants in the initial phase, it has been really fulfilling to see how much talent there is in the Data Science world.
Thank you all the participants for being part of this adventure. We will wait for your participation next year! We wish to thank Siemens Gamesa, Tecnalia, Gipuzkoako Foru Aldundia and ieTeam for their support.
And above all, thank you Sergio and Polina! We hope that you have enjoyed the #NEMexperience as much as we have!
Sergio: “Every hour invested in the Data Challenge really paid off! It was a great experience, learned a lot not only on data wrangling and machine learning but also about real case scenarios and industry issues in need of attention to deploy data-driven solutions to its full strength. NEM Solutions is more than leading edge technology, it´s about attitude and spirit blended in the company´s unique culture. Looking forward to your next events.”
Polina: “Data Challenge is a truly unique contest in data science. I learned a lot on a middle-size data processing, power curtailments detection and normality modelling concept for predictive maintenance tasks. Each and every problem was really challenging and NEM Solutions team was always open to any questions that I had. Especially inspiring was the opportunity to work together with the data science team on Phase III. They have great expertise, are open-minded and enjoyable to work with.”
